A guy i know has problems with running UT on his pc....

this is what he said happens

"I need my UT sorting out guys so i can play some.

I have a quad core with vista now. I have set it to run single core thanks to mental but due to maybe vista and/or being on sky's wireless internet i have lag spikes and cannot jump or dodge half the time. Help!!"

any ideas?

delete vista and go back to XP.....
sorry it isnt what you need but maybe...

to be honest, after month of vista my ut still isnt running that good than under xp. and it will be never the same feeling-.-

you know these problems DO happen without vista...

vista just gets its own issues lol

i can think of 100 questions, one is does it happen in an offline game

what FPS is he getting

try putting v-sync on/off and limiting fps

press f6 and check for ping/packet loss, try wired, change mtu on the modem to 1432

Just simple to fix:
dl and install tweakvi , choose the tweaks insert.
dl and install tcp optimizer, look at the red link for autotuning vista and follow the instructions.
install correct drivers= first mainboard, second graphic card and than sound/network.
check router for correct setup like mtu:1492 and no web service enable (on netgear routers eg. )
dl and install opengl driver 34 for ut, the correct setup is different from the gpu and you cant ! simple copie the opengl entry with different gpu core.
you must test what the best options to enable for your inet connection and graphic card.
i prefer no fps limit and less netspeed ( 7000-8000) so my fps like's ~150 avg, but you can test with vsync on for limit to 60 with triple buffer and trilinear filter on.
and last= set energy handling in system setup to high, beause the cpu throttling is off then and all time your cpu runs with full mhz.
